MISSION STATEMENT “To help young people and adults develop performance skills and confidence in becoming leaders of the future, and to educate them in the heritage of American jazz.”
What’s it all about?
Founded in 2014, IAJSD is a unique music enrichment program for young people ages 10-18, as well as adults, who have a desire to improve their jazz music skills beyond the scope of what typical local school systems or individual classes may offer.
We nurture our students to trust in their own talents and skill and prepare them for performing which brings collaboration, teamwork and leadership skills into effect. We place each student in a small ensemble at the appropriate skill level and they are led by our instructors.
Currently, we are offering online classes on Saturdays on a year-round basis with breaks for the holidays.
Put your best musical talent together and send in your one-minute live video audition along with this form.
Submissions are accepted any time. Sponsorships are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Be sure that’s you, the performer is lit up from both sides
• Get next to a window and add a lamp on the opposite side
• Get two lamps on each side of you that shine on your face and your instrument
• Take some sample phots to see what looks good
Good sound:
Be sure to get the phone close enough so that we can hear your music
• Close enough to hear music and still capture you and your instrument
• Not too far away – test it
• Have a simple mic (See samples to the right from Amazon.com)
Good Angle:
Find tables, books, or use a tri-pod (ask if Mom/Dad have one) to get your phone at eye level or slightly higher view point
• Put phone directly in front of you or next to one of your light sources from an angle
• If you have the camera at your waist, move it just far enough away where the sound is still good, but avoid a view of looking up your nose
